The per-user rate on a pricing page is a starting point, not the final number. When you compare two plans that look identical on price, the difference almost always hides in three places: which features are bundled versus sold as add-ons, how messaging and toll-free minutes are billed, and what one-time fees apply at sign-up. A plan that looks ten dollars cheaper per seat can end up more expensive once transcription, analytics or high-volume texting are added back in.

We recommend comparing on the total monthly cost for your real team size and usage, not the advertised entry rate. If two people will send business texts, confirm whether messaging is included and whether the provider files your 10DLC registration for you. If you expect heavy inbound volume on a toll-free number, ask how many minutes are bundled and what the overage rate is. These details decide the invoice far more than the headline tier.

Starter, Professional or Enterprise?

The Starter tier suits a solo founder or a one or two person team that needs a single professional line, voicemail and a mobile app. If you mostly take calls and want to keep a personal number private, this tier is usually enough. The Professional tier is where most growing businesses land, because it adds an auto-attendant, team extensions, business texting and basic analytics. The Enterprise tier makes sense once you run multiple locations, a busy support or sales desk, or you need call recording, deep CRM integration and formal service-level guarantees.
